tbt my favorite stain.

Some folks know I have been a fan of a peculiar Portland landmark. A legend in my own mind. It is the spilled Ice cream Sunday in my favorite Mexican restaurant. It lasted from 2017-2020.

I saw it when it was fresh and followed it's journey of inertia as it slowly spread and dried out. Over the years it lost it's bling but still it persisted.

I checked in on it a lot and even ran interference once when I thought an employee was too near it with a wet rag. I had to draw them away without drawing attention to the stain. Good old fake seizure did the trick. Whew that was close.

The best part is that this place doesn't sell ice cream. It was a literal snowball in hell and I loved it. It's a survivor in an otherwise cleanish eatery just like me.

I'm sweet and all blown out too. :) Unfortunately when things go back to normal I do not want to see this stain.

If my old friend is there when I return I'm walking right back out. I'm only into mild health hazards.

Yeah it's still there. My favorite Portland landmark has survived to 2020.

I first noticed this ice cream sunday spill in 2017.

By then I had seen it several times. It's noticeable because this place doesn't sell Ice Cream of any kind.
This was a real deal, full blown, sprinkle clad, ice cream sunday all splayed out in an otherwise very clean restaurant. There it sat all of 2018.
I checked in frequently but didn't take pics because I didn't want to draw attention to it.
First it was a proud spill with lots of height but as entropy ensued it slowly spread itself and lost it's cup, sprinkles, fudge and spoon.
At one point I noticed an employee cleaning close to my favorite snowball in hell. Yes that is why I love it, it's a moving sculpture of maltodextrin, a rant on consumerism, a tribute to the idea of hiding in plain sight, It's powerful. fragile and out of place just like me. Being sold on something that isn't sold here is a triumph. I wasn't gonna let any clock puncher threaten my favorite landmark so I crowded over to it pumping $1s into the one armed bandit, pushing the button but only looking at the cleaner until the person moved on. "Whew, that was close Yo."
I was nervous. Would the spill make it to 2020? Yup.
Took this today. It's lost all vestiges of it's former glory but still has managed to stick around.
We should all be so lucky. :)
Rock on Sunday Spill!

"Entropy...I'm not half the stain I used to be."

Bad news. My favorite Portland landmark is going away. It's an Ice Cream spill that used to be a full spilled Ice Cream Sunday that has been residing in a Mexican themed restaurant since I first noticed it circa 2017. It's extraordinary because the place doesn't sell ice cream. The staff is plentiful and they run a tight ship. It's a literal snowball in hell. And that ius why I love it. Underdog!

The gambling machines must be a blind spot for the very religious staff because gambling es el diablo. Anyhoo. We just visited and noticed it has lost most of it's luster. I couldn't bring myself to photograph it. I wanna remember "Spilly" the way it was in this pic from months ago. Even if it fades away I will always remember how long it avoided the wipe rag. It's dying of natural causes. HANG IN THERE SPILLY!

Protecting my esoteric P town landmark

I almost royally screwed up. My favorite taco place hosts one of my favorite esoteric Portland landmarks.
This ice cream spill has been here since Summer 2017. It's amazing that a spill can last that long in a busy restaurant with plenty of staff.
Also it's a minor miracle to behold a fossilized ice cream spill in a place that doesn't sell ice cream.
This spill means a lot to me and today I almost ruined it.
I walked in to find a bunch of beer bottles on the ledge. Quickly I went to dispose of the litter before it attracts a more thorough cleaning.
But while doing that I dropped one of the bottles (buttafingiz) smashing it loudly.
Employees came in to check the commotion. I asked for a broom but they wouldn't let me.
So I just stood between the ice cream and certain scrubbery. They quickly scooped the glass and went back to bigger and better tacos.
(Whew that was close)

Olive Rootbeer took me on a date to an Ice Cream place.

She wanted to cheer me up.
I was very upset to lose our camera. I suction cupped it to our car bumper, went a few blocks, learned it had fallen off and when we went back, it was gone. I was crestfallen.
She needed me to feel better (and she had a coupon)so ice cream it is.
The gopro only cost us a hundie. No biggie.
It's the 3 hours work of music video material that I was really mourning.
The only thing I'm materialistic about is our own personal entertainment material. lol
We did find a lovely donation of art materials on our doorstep, that was uplifting. lol Mystery goodies!

So she bought me a rocky road cone as big as my head.
I do feel a lot better...mostly from the date part.
Olive is kind and hot as a firecracker. I'm glad she didn't melt my cone.
As we left everyone cheered loudly for us. Odd timing since they saw us arrive, stood in a long line with us and we all ate together. Nobody said a word to us. Not complaining just observing some delicious human nature. We could still get the gopro or SD card back.
I'm eager to see how that experiment works out.

This just in.....

Good afternoon,

Are you by any chance missing a gopro? I found one one my walk home. I though...oh gee my lucky day. Got home and found you both on its sd card. If it is yours I would love very much to return it to you.

Psst, hey, yeah you. Wanna help prop up our little Popsicle stand? Are you in a place to be hookin clowns up with some moneys for guitar strings and other things?
We appreciate cha Tiger, thanks a lot. We promise to give this thing everything we got. :)
