The box.

Someone who lives a our house bought a painting from a clown on the other side of the country (whom we have never heard of) . When it arrived we all were delighted that the painting I needed to mail out of state fits perfectly and already has confetti. I just mailed it out. Also the person who bought our painting was a clown and The clown who put all those groovy punk rock basslines in the Pepto Dizmal band. So the box came from a clown, was used by another clown and then shipped to a clown. Big thanks to the superfan housemate who buys things from clowns. It's the clownee circle of life. Thanks for keeping all our wheels on the ground patrons!

Mythology.

For a long time I have been studying how history treats the heroes and villains of old. How twisted will the current players stories be? The Captain of the Titanic had songs about him saving babies before going down with the ship but no songs about how he drove the ship almost at full speed while ignoring over 100 iceberg warnings. HAHAHA! I wouldn't want to write that song, that's depressing. "Women and children first" Fun fact: About as many men from first class (54) survived as children (55) in third class didn't survive. But that could be because they were at the bottom of the boat. I used the Titanic as a punchline during some of our kid shows a few years ago. Olive griped me out a bit for mentioning that disaster in front of the kids. I was so delighted she gave me the chance to legitimately ask "Too soon?" That was delicious.

Strange bedfellows.

Chilly wakening today. I love it. Fall is great weather for the cuddling game. But before my eyes opened, before my tentacles found her tentacles,

I was reminded of waking up decades ago in the Gulf Coast where I'm from. That is my country and I melt into that environment easily.

I was remembering one morning waking up somewhere off I-10 in Louisiana. I had been hitchhiking to nowhere in particular (looking for Portland but didn't know where or what Portland was).

I woke to a chilly misty morning in the bayou: wonderful trees and smells, very little traffic, and alligators were all around me.

There were zero alligators when I put my sleeping bag on the ground the night before.

Now, there were two on one side of me and another behind me near the road. None of them had breakfast tacos for me and due to their blood needing to warm up, I luckily wasn't a breakfast burrito for them. I slowly gathered my things, wished them a good morning and happy hunting, then bailed. After that my strategy was all about finding buildings and rest stops and sleeping on the rooves.

It took a long time to trade up from cuddling a gator to cuddling a fox. 🙂

Croptober report: We just gave Karl a haircut.

Croptober report: We just gave Karl a haircut.

I was just gonna start lopping but then realized this is a job for the Rootbeer.

She doesn't partake but she loved the process. She is great with details and she notices everything.

Big thanks to James and Jessica who gifted me this plant I named Karl (after Kamakazi Karl.)

J&J gave me 4 plants. Two I passed on to others and one became a male so that left me with good ol Karl. I love posting this stuff because I get great info. In the comments of an earlier post I learned that it's not necessary to wash the buds after they lived in those fire conditions of last month. I also learned from Kyle

"You didnt upcut/lollipop that hard, you could just cut all the colas out and give it 2 more weeks for the popcorn to fatten up a bit"  so that's what we did. Thanks Farmer Jay, Kyle and everyone else who shares the cultivation information.  :)

I got invited to a "U pick" ganja harvest.

It was a riot filling my bike up and riding home thru sePortland. Everyone was rocking masks but still could tell some weed was afoot. It smells divine. We spent a couple of hr.s trimming and hanging buds like laundry. Happy Croptober

I love Portland free boxes. So much of the coolest stuff I ever brought home came from random boxes of stuff people put out. Today I found t...
