Every day is a job interview.

Our gig today was a birthday party for a 41 YO living in a developmentally disabled colony house. It was a joy winning them over and watching the staff crack up at the clients cracking up. "He/She never laughs like that" is something we hear a lot. I love that we somehow have keys that work on some folks mental doors. At least for a little while. Before we started the company asked us an odd question "What are you gonna do?" We didn't know what to tell them. Olive just said we will bring joy for the whole hour." They wanted very specific specifics (like a responsible business would.) Personalized song,, some clown antics, music and balloons then a game. They sent us a dossier of the birthday client so we could write a song for her. It went over great. We had them all howling, it was very rewarding. They were adorable and had us cracking up too. It was great to get out of doors and traipse around the Oregon for a bit.

Telling Olive's Cat about my day. She is so enthralled.

Battery died while paying respects to T REX

We went to pay our respects for the folks who were shot at the protest the other day. It was a solemn gathering in the park. Really cold and wet. We were very sad but happy to commiserate with a bunch of other citizens. We laid a bouquet of 4 flowers for the injured and murdered. We held hands and quickly split.
Thats when we found out our car battery died. I looked at it and the terminals looked like they were covered in oatmeal. Luckily we were around some of the most giving folks in town. First person we asked was happy to help. We made a friend who quickly fetched a car and drove it up to us! We also learned a lesson. Priuses are not very good for giving a cars a jump. None of us were car people so we couldn't find the battery...I think the Prius is a battery. So we had to find another friend with a different car. They set us up right as rain. Now we made 2 friends. This is a pretty sad night. Hope everyone is making the best of it on this chilly wet night.

Sweet 16. Our son's birthday today.

We woke up in the dark hours to blow up lots of balloons to wake him up with. All he wanted for his birthday was donuts and sushi (and for us to be his parents) so we did what we could.

we buried him

He has been thru a lot in the last couple of years. Olive got him Donuts and sushi, i cooked his birthday brekky and huge smiles were had by all. Custody court is in 2 weeks.

Olive's cat was super happy too but she didn't know why.

Teen angst

My son and i were waiting for the bus together outside his school. Across the park a bunch of kids shouted his name greeting him. He awkwardly waved to them. Then they shouted at the kid next to him "Hi Timmy!" Timmy was a bit younger, Tim replied "Fuk Yew!" in a loud cracking voice. Then the 10 kids yelled back "No Fuk YUUU!" Suddenly all the kids around us were yelling "fuk you" across the park at each other. They were doing it in the most joyful way too. What a clever way to blow off steam after a day of public school. I looked at my boy, he was mortified, me, best thing that happened all week. I said "Sorry you have to be here with your Dad. I know you would be yelling fuk you if I wasn't standing here." His frown broke. "True." "Me too son, me too"

Spay day for Olive's cat. We have been concentrating on comforting this kitty. She let us know that she just wants to eat food and binge-watch birdy shows. She likes mouse shows but the birds really give her a good distraction. I can't disclose the cat's name because it's a series of 15 numbers that get randomly generated every day. The cat takes security culture very seriously and we respect her for that. Get well soon 884586110295990!
