Getting a tour of campus with my kid. I don't know anything about pre-med but i do love a school whose bike rack is laden with tools. It gets very dark at night in this part of the country and there isn't a nightlife that we could see. I asked my kid what she will be doing for fun here and she quickly shut me up. "I'm gonna be becoming a doctor." Haha! We couldn't afford a moving truck so she had to abandon most of her stuff in Portland. She had no furniture but Olive and i created our own night life by dumpster diving a fine chair and even a bike. I loved watching my kid slim down her possessions (very healthy)and i love dumpster diving in college towns.
First thing my kid did was go to Target and buy herself some sets of identical cups and dishware. Olive and I were turning our noses up. "Why give that huge corporation any money, we can scare ya up tons of stuff local or used. Often for free. . She posited something I never thought of. She said she was raised by a scrappy tribe that she loves. We were really good at getting blood from a stone but nothing ever matched. She totally owns herself and she wants to start out with matching stuff. I'm super proud of her for taking her own path.
We went dumpster diving late last night too. This is the first time we ever dumpster dove in the company of deer. They were everywhere watching us do our thing. We noticed a lot of the refuse receptacles were bear proof. Over-thinking that prospect made us decide to come home early. We want to be the finders not the found.
