I went on a mission Sat. to deliver two bags of blankets as well as this nice lookin boy named Bam. My boy needed to get home to mom after spending some quality time with his dad and Olive.
Bam looooooooves Olive,
still it was time to go back to where his dog and Will live.
After wrapping his head and ears really good, bundling him up...finding out he has to pee, unbundlin him, re-bundling him etc.I was able to get out the door.
It's cold...really cold, all the snow I could see was blowing upwards like an upside down wave.It didn't look like 3:30pm thats for sure!
I could tell right away that the wind took some air out of him so I told him to stay calm, breathe and to tell me how he was feeling. I knew nothing was running on time so I put him on my shoulders and ran like hell for the first bus stop.
Above is a triangle of windbreak I found between stops, the snow marks where the freezing wind is sheltered.
He was freaking out a little but calm I had to stay calm too. He was introverted and as I felt under him he was soaked with snow and sleet.
I pulled a towel from one of the bags and wrapped it around him.
For a long time we watched a bus slowly lumber to us; it made deliberate safe stops and it took forever to get close enough that we could see that it was the wrong bus.
I felt lousy after tellin him the whole time that we would soon be warm on that bus.
Soon the right bus came and we dove in.
I looked at my boy...he was a little stronger.
We talked a lot, I wondered if he would ever remember what was said...I guess not.
He ended up warm at home with his dog and sister, his mom made me some PB&J
MY adventure had just begun....
